Sea Fishing Braid, Monofilament and Fluorocarbon Lines

Sea fishing line is available in different types with the most common being monofilament, braid and fluorocarbon. Mono lines are commonly loaded onto the reel for bait fishing from the shore or beach and are used for making hook lengths and snoods. Breaking strains of 12lb to 25lb used as a mainline cover most shore fishing situations while a heavier shock leader of 50lb to 60lb, is often added to take the strain of casting.
Braided lines are often used for lure fishing as they have almost zero stretch. This lack of stretch allows the angler to impart action into their lure and feel subtle takes from fish. Braided mainlines are also used for shore bait fishing and boat fishing. The lack of stretch gives superior bite detection compared to mono and the thin diameter gives increased casting distance. In rough ground heavy braid of 80-100lb allows the angler to retrieve tackle from snags more often.
