RIO Elite Scandi Body

The RIO Elite Scandi Body is the core component of a powerful and versatile Spey system, engineered to combine Skagit power with Scandi grace. This series of shooting head bodies is designed for maximum versatility, allowing you to easily add both floating and sinking tips to fine-tune your presentation.

Equipped with an Elite Scandi Body and a set of matched tips, you are covered for a wide variety of water heights, fishing conditions, and seasons.

The Scandi head design is incredibly easy to cast and built to load a Spey rod quickly and efficiently. It features a precise taper and weight distribution that will turn over balanced tips and flies with exceptional ease, delivering tight loops that unroll effortlessly.

This body is the complete delivery system, acting as the perfect engine to propel a wide range of tips across to the far bank, allowing you to present flies at a multitude of depths.

The bodies are available in three essential densities to cover most salmon and sea trout fishing needs:

Floating: Excels in summer and low-water conditions, providing a perfect presentation for small to medium flies.

Hover/Intermediate: Sinks slowly and is ideal for windy days, cooler temperatures, and when fishing in bigger flows.

Intermediate/Sink 3: The perfect choice for early season, deep pools, and higher water heights.

The entire system is built on RIO’s ultra-low-stretch ConnectCore Plus, which provides enhanced sensitivity for detecting subtle takes, setting hooks with confidence, and maintaining control when playing fish.

The Elite Scandi Body is designed to match RIO’s MDC tips:
Use the 12ft dual density MDC tips for switch rods and double-handed rods less than 13ft.
Use the 18ft triple density MDC tips for double-handed rods 13ft and longer.

Adding the correctly sized tip to a body will ensure the smoothest possible turnover and most efficient, effortless casting stroke. For easy management, the front loop of the Scandi Body has a colour-coded sleeve that matches the sleeve colour on the back end of the correct tips, simplifying line identification and perfect balancing.
