Saltwater Fly Rods

Saltwater fly rods are used for targeting fish like pollock and bass around the coast of the uk or can be used further afield in tropical waters fishing for species like bonefish or tarpon. Saltwater fly rods are commonly around 9ft long, this length gives a good compromise of accuracy and casting distance.
Rods with a casting weight of #8 or #9 are perfect for fishing for pollock or bass. These line weights will allow the angler to cast and turn over bigger flies with ease and will cast better in windy conditions compared to lighter line weights. Heavier rated rods, #10 and above, are useful for casting bigger flies, heavy sinking lines or when fishing for large species, such as tarpon, in tropical waters.
