Seaguar Grand Max Fluorocarbon is one of the most reliable fluorocarbon leader / tippet materials on the market. Supplied in a range of breaking strains this trustworthy tippet is commonly used when fly fishing for trout, sea trout and salmon.

Grand Max is best used where fish are particularly shy as it is made from 100% fluorocarbon which has a nearly identical refractive index as water. This makes it almost invisible whilst in the water, allowing you to present your flies more naturally, encouraging fish to bite.

This fluorocarbon has achieved a solid reputation for performance and reliability since its inception. Grand Max is Designed and manufactured in Japan, you can be certain you’ll be getting a top quality line that won’t let you down.

Unlike monofilament lines, this fluorocarbon will sink in the water. This helps to aid with the presentation of your flies as it will cut through the surface level of the water and will help avoid your tippet getting stuck in the surface film. This is particularly helpful when fishing dry flies as it will stop you spooking fish with your leader or small nymphs, as it will improve presentation and allow them to sink naturally, presenting your flies where you want them to be.

Grand Max has an incredibly thin diameter for its breaking strain, which allows you to use a stronger tippet than normal, whilst retaining the benefits of a thin tippet. This is ideal for many anglers as it allows you to maintain a subtle presentation whilst giving you more confidence if you hook into that once in a lifetime fish. It is also slightly stiffer than other fluorocarbon lines on the market which results in better turnover and less line tangles. This will keep you focused on your fishing instead of dealing with unnecessary tangles.

Here at Angling Active due to the low diameter of this line we like to use a heavier breaking strain like 9.5lb when fishing for stillwater trout as it is thin and subtle enough to fish small flies, but gives you the added security of a stronger tippet.
