Veniard Ostrich Herls

The Ostrich Herl from Veniard is taken from the long fluffy section from Ostriches plumes. These herls are beautiful and fantastic for adding extra movement to wet and dry Trout flies and Salmon flies.

Popularly used on Nymphs, mainly for creating fluffy bodies and tails, herls can also be used for streamer patterns.

These herls are much more animated and lifelike compared to peacock herl and can be used on a variety of other patterns to help to bring your flies to life.

Common flies that use the Ostrich Herl is Iven's Green and Brown Nymph, Heptagenid Stone Fly Nymph and the Ostrich Herl Scud.

There is a single Ostrich Herl provided per pack and although they vary in length due to natural differences between the birds, they average at around 22cm in length.
