Shimano Catana FE Spinning Reel

Shimano Catana FE Spinning Fixed Spool Reel is the latest budget friendly freshwater spinning reel from Shimano. Ideal for a wide range of lure and bait tactics for species like perch, pike, trout and silver fish these reels are an excellent choice for all anglers.

Compared to previous budget Shimano reels the Catana FE features improved balance using Shimano’s latest G-free body design. This body design has been developed to shift the reel’s centre of gravity closer to the rod. This is achieved by moving the oscillation mechanism up from the bottom of the reel to the top. This is incredibly helpful when fishing for extended periods of time as it reduces casting fatigue and will help you be able to fish for longer.

These reels are exceptionally smooth thanks to the combination of Shimano’s 3 stainless steel ball bearings plus the roller bearing which ensures a continually smooth performance. This allows you to play any larger fish with ease.

Like all high end Shimano reels the Catana FE features the aluminium AR-C Spool which combined with the varispeed line lay will help improve casting distance with monofilament and braided lines making this reel an excellent choice for both bait fishing and lure fishing alike.

The team at Angling Active recommend using the smaller reel sizes such as the 1000 for light lure fishing for species like perch. The heavier sizes such as the 3000 and the 4000 are perfect for fishing larger lures for trout and salmon and for using with coarse float fishing tackle.
