Fixed Spool Reels for Boat Fishing

Sea fishing fixed spool reels, or spinning reels, can be used for a variety of boat fishing applications. Smaller fixed spool reels can be used for lure fishing and spinning for predatory fish in shallow water or will balance light tackle well when dropping light rigs and weights targeting smaller species.

Larger fixed spool reels are well suited for uptiding, when larger weights and heavier set ups are used to cast a baited rig away from the boat, often uptide. A large spinning reel allows ease of casting compared to a multiplier and holds plenty of heavier line and has ample drag to target big, hard fighting species.
