Review by Dave Gardner
I already own a few of these budget lines from Rio and have used them for a good few years now with no issues…
Bought the 8 weight bass/pike line for my glass rod to cover carp and pike duties based on already owning other models .
A lot of my fishing is short to medium range so the slightly overweight heads on the mainstream lines helps load the rod with less line out .
I’ve had the mainstream DT5 on another rod for over 5 years that’s had a lot of use, So longevity wise the lines will hold up long term if you look after them.
Ive used the mainstream clear intermediate for beach fishing in the Mediterranean on numerous occasions with good results …
For the price and quality of the line and being an average Joe fly fisher , they are a good option and a solid line for people trying to keep costs down while still getting something that will do it’s job..
Only downside for some maybe is there’s no factory welded loop on some of the models within the mainstream range but that’s a small niggle and it shouldn’t put people off , loads of info and options online for connecting leader to fly line.
