Aluminium tube flies are tube flies tied on a lightweight metal tube that sit somewhere between lighter plastic tubes and heavier copper and tungsten tubes. The aluminium tube isn’t as heavy as copper or tungsten tubes of the same size so won’t sink down as deep or fast and offers a more subtle presentation but will fish slightly deeper than lightweight plastic tubes, which often fish only inches under the surface. Perfect for those days when there isn’t a lot of water in the river but you still want to get your fly down a bit to the fish!
