Description / Fulling Mill Must Have Boobies Fly Selection Pack
The booby is an iconic and deadly effective pattern, and this pack brings together 8 of the most popular and proven designs. Whether you're a beginner looking to try this fantastic method or a seasoned angler in need of a quick restock, this pack delivers unbeatable quality and value.
Each fly in this selection has been tied to a high standard, ensuring durability and a consistent profile that will withstand countless casts and retrieves. The buoyant foam eyes are a key feature, making the fly float and creating a unique action in the water.
This pack includes a variety of styles and colours, including classic booby patterns and highly effective "Pseudo" and "Blobby" variations, giving you plenty of options to tempt even the most cautious of trout.
Know Your Flies: A Situational Guide
The booby is a highly effective stillwater pattern that is almost always fished on a sinking line. The fly’s buoyant foam eyes are key to its success and the techniques used to fish it.
The Booby Method: This is the most common technique. The booby is cast out on a fast-sinking line. The line sinks rapidly, pulling the buoyant fly down towards the bottom. As the angler retrieves the line, the fly zig-zags and rises and falls, creating a lifelike, "come to me" action that triggers aggressive strikes from fish.
Fishing the Hang: This technique is a variation of the above. After retrieving the line, pause for a moment. The sinking line will pull the booby down, but as it rests, the buoyant fly will rise toward the surface, a movement that often prompts a strike.
Washing Line Setup: A booby can be used as the anchor fly on a "washing line" setup. This is typically fished on a floating line with nymphs or buzzers on droppers. The booby holds the other flies at a set depth, making it a great way to target fish at a specific level in the water column.
