Description / FastNet 22" Gye Net
Handmade in Scotland, the FastNet 22" Salmon Gye Net is a traditional sliding-shaft landing net designed specifically for roving river anglers. Sized perfectly between compact sea trout nets and massive 26" spring salmon nets, this 22" model is considered a great "all-rounder".
The 22" (56cm) hoop is manufactured using FastNet’s age-hardened and tempered diamond aluminium alloy. This heat-treatment process accelerates the alloy's natural aging curve to achieve maximum yield strength while keeping the overall frame weight around 700 grams.
The sliding handle uses a heavy-duty hexagonal alloy shaft. The hexagonal geometry prevents structural twisting under heavy loads and offers significantly more resistance to bending than standard round tubing when extending the net across strong currents.
Engineered for deep wading and long stretches on the bank, the net operates on a peel-sling system. Carried stowed across your back via the included leather/webbing harness, a simple pull releases the frame, allowing gravity to drop the head and extend the shaft, all while keeping your other hand securely on the rod.
The bag is fitted with a soft, knotless "shake-dry" synthetic mesh. Featuring a flat-bottom pan design, it supports the fish evenly without bunching, protecting scales and slime layers for safe catch-and-release while drying rapidly to prevent lingering odours.
Key Features:
22" Diamond Alloy Hoop: Custom heat-treated aluminium rim rated for an impressive 20lb yield strength.
Hexagonal Shaft Extension: Heavy-duty hexagonal tube eliminates shaft flex and twist when landing fish in fast river flows.
Automatic Brass Taper Lock: Smooth, brass locking pin secures the extended frame automatically into place.
Glass-Toughened Resin Knuckle: Moulded nylon-glass composite joint block eliminates weak failure points and prevents net-bag snags.
Shake-Dry Knotless Mesh: Gentle, fish-safe synthetic netting that sheds water instantly.
Hands-Free Sling System: Keeps the net slung out of the way on your back until needed.
