Handcrafted in Scotland, the FastNet 19" Trout & Sea Trout Gye Net is an essential piece of equipment for mobile river anglers targeting large sea trout and wild brown trout. Built to traditional Gye net principles, it features an extending shaft that slung over your shoulder while wading, allowing single-handed deployment when a fish is ready to land.
The 19" hoop is manufactured using FastNet’s proprietary age-hardened and tempered diamond aluminium alloy, which maximises structural rigidity and prevents frame deformation when netting heavy fish in strong currents.
The sliding shaft is built from a heavy-duty hexagonal alloy tube, delivering extreme bend resistance compared to standard round tubing. An automatic brass tapered locking mechanism secures the head firmly into position as soon as the handle is extended. The main knuckle block is custom-moulded from a high-impact nylon-glass toughened resin composite, eliminating weak plastic joint points and reducing line-snagging edges.
Designed for deep wading and long walks along overgrown riverbanks, the net comes equipped with a hands-free leather or webbing carry sling. The frame rests comfortably across your back until needed; pulling the frame forward automatically releases the locking pin and drops the net head into position.
The bag is fitted with a soft, knotless "shake-dry" synthetic mesh with a pan-style flat base. This design supports the full length of sea trout and grilse without bunching them up, protecting scales and mucus layers for safe catch-and-release.
