Description / Daiwa Fly Pack - Caddis Nymphs

Caddisflies are one of the most abundant insects in UK and European rivers, making them a primary food source for trout and grayling. The Daiwa Fly Pack - Caddis Nymphs is an expertly curated collection of 10 popular patterns, hand-selected by renowned angler Hywel Morgan.

This selection is specifically designed to represent the most common caddis species and their various life stages, giving you a powerful tool for river fishing throughout the entire season.

Each fly is tied to a high standard, with a variety of patterns that cover every stage of the caddis life cycle, from larvae to emerging pupae. The pack includes both weighted and unweighted flies, allowing you to fish at any depth, from the riverbed to the surface.

This expertly chosen selection offers excellent value and is an essential addition to any river angler's fly box.

Know Your Flies: A Situational Guide
Caddisflies are a major food source for river trout and grayling. This pack is designed to help you imitate both the larval stage (larva) and the pupal stage (pupa) of the insect, giving you a pattern for any situation.

Fishing the Larva: The larval stage of the caddis is found on the riverbed. Use the Larva and Beadhead Larva patterns in this pack to get down to the bottom. They can be fished with a standard nymphing rig or with a short-line technique to make them "tumble" along the riverbed, imitating the natural insect.

Fishing the Pupa: The pupal stage is when the insect swims from the riverbed to the surface to hatch. Use the Pupa and Emerging Pupa patterns to imitate this movement. Fish them on a standard nymph rig with a slow, stop-and-go retrieve to mimic the insect's movement through the water column.

All-Season Use: In colder water periods, focus on fishing the weighted larva patterns deep on the bottom. In the spring and summer, as hatches become more common, use the pupa patterns with a more active retrieve to entice fish that are feeding on the ascent.
