In 1952 Warren “Pete” Henning returned from a long fishing trip with the desire to improve on the tackle box design. Tired of bulky metal boxes that rusted quickly he set to work creating a lighter, rust-proof box that could stand up to saltwater fishing trips. His new design replaced the metal with plastic which reduced weight whilst still providing versatile storage. With this one simple idea Plano changed the entire fishing industry and has quickly become the standard in modern tackle boxes everywhere. Since then Plano have worked hard expanding their range of tackle storage to include a wide variety of other storage options for everything fishing, hunting and outdoors related.
