Description / Berkley PowerBait Chop Block
The Berkley PowerBait Chop Block is a soft-bodied jointed glide bait designed for freshwater predator angling. Constructed with a tall, broad profile to mimic panfish and shad forage, the bait features a mesh-reinforced single joint and a soft plastic body infused with Berkley PowerBait scent formula. The soft body composition provides flexible movement under pressure, while the internal mesh layer maintains joint integrity across repeated strikes.
The Chop Block produces two main action profiles depending on retrieve input: a wide S-curve glide during a steady reel retrieve, and a tight, darting action when worked with rapid rod tip twitches. Built as a slow-sinking lure, its sink rate can be further altered by inserting nail weights directly into the soft plastic body to target deeper water columns or compensate for current.
The lure is built around an internal Fusion19 harness system featuring a main belly treble hook and an integrated rear stinger hook. The stinger is held flush against the body during casting and retrieves using a magnetic retention clip. Upon a hookset, the stinger releases from the body to rotate on its wire harness, reducing leverage and preventing fish from using the weight of the lure to throw the hook.
