The RIO Tarpon Pro Tapered Leader - Twin Pack includes 2 strong and heavy leaders, designed to handle fishing for Tarpon and other tropical species.
These leaders have been through years of testing and development to create a high performing tarpon leader that is strong enough to handle tropical species and environments. Each leader is hand tied, allowing you to use them straight from the packet.
The 10ft length design is tied with a heavy butt section for wind penetration, powerful turnover and tied throughout each leader is 100% strength knots to tie all the materials together. The leaders are made from a combination of nylon class tippet and a fluorocarbon shock tippet.
As Tarpon have very sharp edges on their gill plates, the fluorocarbon shock tippet provides high abrasion resistance and durability to withstand this. The lighter nylon class tippet is sacrificial for when a Tarpon takes the leader and you need to easily break it off to lose the fish so you don’t exhaust it.
