Description / Hardy Ultralite ASR

Presenting the unique, Hardy Ultralite ASR, a light weight and incredibly tough fly reel built with a new ASR (Assisted Spool Release) cassette system that actively frees the spool at the flick of a switch.

This cassette reel is built from a durable aluminium 6061 bar stock main construction with a heavy ported design throughout for an incredible light weight.

The unique Assisted Spool Release cassette system is sure to be loved by anglers, offering an ultra fast and super easy spool changing mechanism that lets you change from a floater to a fast sinker at the flick of a spring loaded switch.

The spool is quickly ejected using a flick switch button and will automatically engage the new spool with a simple push fit. There is also a multi pad, colour coded 340 degree disc drag which allows you for fully set your drag to your fishing requirements using the knob. The coloured dots indicate the settings between a heavy drag (red coloured dots) or a light drag (green coloured dots) and lets you see where your drag is set without interrupting your fishing.

The reel also utilises a reusable line ID system and features a high impact, clear composite cassette spool. The ASR also includes a new lightweight size specifically designed for the challenges of modern river fishing.

The Hardy Ultralite ASR is a stunning titanium colour and each model is supplied with two additional spare spools and a case. The ASR is available in a range of models that you can select from our drop down menu.

Fantastic
Review by Derek
I've been using the 7000 size now for just under a year. I can honestly say, it's changed the way I play fish. I used to always strip the line during the fight, even on larger fish, but now I deliberately play everything straight off the drag. The small gap, so you can thumb the spool is very useful also in playing large trout. I've bought more spools from Angling Active and now have float, sink tip, 3 different speeds of intermediate and S3 lines, which gives me everything I'll ever need, on a day at a Stillwater or Reservoir. OK it's not the cheapest, but it looks and performs incredibly well and the spare spools at just under £10 means you can add multiple spools, which is handy, especially if you fish in competitions. The reel comes with spools in total, and a lovely padded neoprene case. The little studs that allow you to mark each spools line weight and density type is also very useful. No more raking through spools, trying to figure of its a #6 or a #7 and a float or sink tip etc... I just love the reel, and balances perfectly on my 10ft Demon Sintrix rod. Well done Hardy.

Excellent
Review by John
As expected from Hardy, what a wonderful piece of engineering the ASR reel is. I purchased the 5000 model, 5 /6 # and loaded a 6# line. Only used once yet on a 4 hour stint and landed 11 rainbows to 3 3/4 lbs, the reel performed brilliantly. The drag setting is a dream. Overall an excellent buy especially with the 20% discount from Angling Active. Thanks

A little Gem!
Review by ALISTAIR
Class little reel very light with excellent drag. The spare spool change over is very slick and simple to do with not to bad a price tag against it. I would certainly recommend it. I thought I would try it with the Hardy 10' #3 Rod and they have worked well together for my needs. Quality reel.
