Delivery and observation of Hardy EWS raincoat
Review by shug
I was on holiday in Thirsk and ordered online from my smartphone around 2.40 on the 17th July knowing I would be home on the Friday. When I arrived on Friday afternoon there was notification that the delivery driver had been and gone at 9.20am. Fantastic free delivery service. The driver left notification that the parcel would be delivered the next day (excluding weekends). It was delivered on Monday just after 9.00am.

On opening the parcel and inspecting the coat it immediately struck me that it was a fairly strong looking waterproof with plenty of pockets. I was a little suspect at the hand warming pockets on the sides about chest high. I inspected these pockets as I had a similar jacket where this type of pocket let in water. I had my back to the weather and the rain was driving onto my back and into these pockets however on inspection this Hardy raincoat has a waterproof backing whereas the other jacket had a hand warming backing which let in water. I haven't been out in any rain as yet but feel confident that this coat will prove to be a good buy especially when considering the cost. £170. A real bargain methinks.

Excellent jacket for foul weather
Review by The Unfamous Fly
I was after a 3/4 length jacket primarily for boat fishing when you get caught in the wind and rain, and while I had not considered the Hardy EWS2 prior to the price reduction, I have been very impressed with it.
I usually wear a large size in clothes ( not because I am especially big, but Medium's tend to be a bit tight over my chest and under my arms). However the Medium was a perfect fit for me and anything larger would have been excessive.
Its a good thick coat with plenty pockets ( I think I am still discovering them!) , and I especially like the storm cuffs and inner liner round the wrists.
I have worn it quite a bit in our so called Spring weather and its done the job keeping me both dry ( even in pretty horrendous weather last week at Linlithgow Loch) and warm. No mean acheivement as most waterproof jackets are merely shells that have no insulation properties at all.
The waterproof inner pocket and zip lock cover that came with it are also useful for phones and car keys, though I suspect it won't have the longevity of the jacket. Its still useful
Very impressed.

Great all round Game coat
Review by patMac
I product tested this coat following it's receipt from Angling Active,I owe no allegiance to any party and my comments are solely mine and mine alone.

On unwrapping the coat I noticed straight away that it was a big old unit, I had asked for at least an XL and I normally need XXL in clothing as I am 6'01" and 15 stone. This was more than adequate though and I noticed on the label " Made in China".....I think enough has been said about Hardy outsourcing their gear and the quality resulting from it.

I have to say though this seems a quality product and it does what it says on the tin. You have to tune the various toggles hidden around it though as without doing so it hangs on you like a big waterproof curtain.

All in all a nice Game coat and a garment that you can put on last when en route to a days spinning or walking up a shoot. It's a bit too full on for a days mobile fly fishing and the quality and lightness of current wading jackets or fly vests would probably consign this to the wearer putting it on as he left the house then removing it as you started on the lake or river side.

We rarely have days when the weather sends us all it can but on those days when you need ultra protection then I guess this is the chap for that occasion.
