Looking for a trolling rod that can cope with the rigours of downrigging? The Abu Garcia Altum Trolling Rod might be the rod that you are looking for, built on a powerful HSC (High Strain Composite) blank that is not only strong but very lightweight.
The Altum trolling rods have a good bit of backbone which is what you require for this style of fishing.
The toughness of the Altum doesn't just stop at the rod blank, the hardware is just as impressive. Fitted with stainless steel guides with Zirconium inserts provides you with a rod that will accommodate both braided and monofilament mainlines. The stainless steel guides will also deal with the harsh life of boat fishing.
The reel handle is constructed with non-slip grip rubber shrink tube EVA handle, this low maintenance handle is easily wiped down after each session and durable to withstand the constant use and abuse of rod holders.
Above the handle there is a hook keeper ring and the rods have a 2 piece construction for easy storage and transport. Each rod is primarily black in colour with a white coloured, hi-vis tip for improved bite detection.
