Available in 10ft, 12ft and 13ft lengths with a choice of 2 piece, 3 piece and telescopic blanks the Shakespeare Sigma Beachcaster range has a model to suit virtually any shore anglers requirements.
The medium fast action blanks offer easy long range performance with the simplest of casting styles.
The 13ft model, rated at 4 - 8oz is perfect for general beach and mixed rough ground fishing when targeting flounders, dabs, plaice, whiting, codling, bass and rays.
The 12ft model is available as either a 2pc or 3pc equal length blank, both with a powerful, progressive action. They are suited to both open beach surf fishing for general species and also light rough ground fishing.
The 12ft telescopic beachcaster has a compact closed length of 1.14m as is great for fitting in a small car boot and when walking distances to fish. The action is progressive with a casting rating of 4-8oz making it extremely versatile.
Finally the 10ft Beach/Pier rod is perfect for general pier and beach fishing. Ideal for flatfish, whiting, bass and codling as well as other species.

4 good intro rod

Having returned to sea fishing after a 20yr break I was looking for an entry level rod/reel combo for light rock/pier/beach. A short visit and chat to the helpful staff resulted in a 2 piece Shakespeare Sigma beachcaster and Shakespeare Omni fixed spool reel being purchased. A fan of Shakespeare from earlier fishing, I was not disappointed in these products. Rod is light, good finish and easy to handle, reel the same. As a "starter" pack I would say the combination is excellent at under £60 . I wouldn't hesitate to recommend both purchases and the staff knowledge/choice of rods/reels available at the store cannot be faulted
