Description / Scientific Anglers Mastery Expert Distance Competition Fly Line
The Scientific Anglers Mastery Expert Distance Competition Fly Line provides you with ultra smooth casting and achieves phenomenal distance with ease, even in windy conditions. Designed with an extra-long head and rear taper, this line will let you throw mends you didn’t think were even possible.
The extra-long head and tapers allow smooth long distance casting and provide excellent long distance line control. The compound head design ensures strong turnover at distance and the line itself is constructed from a highly durable braided multifilament core.
Each line also features Scientific Anglers’ patented dry-slick, Advanced Shooting technology which provides exceptional line slickness so the line can shoot much father when it passes through the guides. The coating easily sheds off dirt, algae and lets the line cast out further, float higher and stay a lot cleaner.
On the first 1-2 feet of your line, you will also find a line identification marking system to you can easily identify your line with a single glance. There are also welded loops on both ends, providing slickness and strength. These loops provide a seamless fly-line-to-loop transition, making for softer landings and cleaner pickups. The sleek design also maintains buoyancy for improved fly-line flotation and enables quicker connections between fly line and leaders or fly line and backing.
The competition line is designed to be used in moderate to cool conditions and is ideal for use with dries, nymphs and streamers.

5 My favourite floating fly line

The SA mastery expert distance competition fly line is by far the best overhead line I have ever used.
I had the mist green version about 10 years ago (SA mastery expert distance) and this was also a phenomenal line. The mist green versions head is about 10' shorter, and the whole line is shorter over all.
This line (The SA mastery expert distance competition fly line) is what I use to compare new potential fly rods. I can start by casting the leader, and then work my way out to 85.4' (85.4' is the length of the head for the #6).
This line is perfect on my Hardy Zephrus 9' #6, and it is also advantageous that it is orange, as I am training to be a casting instructor.
This line fishes very well with nymphs, teams of flies and lures. I also bought a line to go on my 10' #7 to fish for summer salmon and sea trout on the river Wear (Durham). You can perform very large mends, cast out sizeable salmon doubles (and light tubes) as well as perform airborne and waterborne anchor Spey casts.
In conclusion, this is an amazing fly line. I really hope that scientific anglers continue to make it for many years to come. Tight lines!

This line to me is the best line ever made, it out performs all other lines from short to long casts.
The extra length of the head will allow you to punch much further into the wind while still allowing you the control you want.
Also don't be put off by the bright orange, this line has caught more fish then any other line I have used.
Go and have a cast with this line and you will never want to use anything else.
