It's brilliant kit
Review by Patrick
I've come back to fishing as I nudge retirement. This Greys package is fantastic value. Having been a sports nut all my life and having never hesitated to pay serious money for good kit, I was stunned at how good this is for the money. The reel is a delight to use, and the rod casts beautifully. It's wonderful in tight situations such as overhanging trees and high vegetation behind you, as once the line is airborne, you can keep it moving and the loops get tight. The progressive nature of the action means that you have to be seriously silly to whip crack the fly off.

Four casts on the back lawn and I was back to when I was 14 when exams and athletics stopped my fishing. Much easier than a spinning rod, versatile and very forgiving without the flippyness of a small Shakespeare or the deadish feel of a bigger Daiwa, this is the ideal intermediate fly rod. The smoothness and ease reminded me of my best badminton rackets before a skiing injury got me back into my old sports.

Just get in there and get that line aloft! Once you've got it up there, with a foot or so of line in your hand, fix on the target and let instinct take over. Nothing was rising on the river last night, but I still had a silly grin from the fun of the casting.

The reel is a joy too - a lovely sensual click to it, and really delicate adjustment. Nice attention to detail with the attachment of the line to the backing via neat exotic (to me at least) knot. None of my dodgy stuff with a dob of superglue.

Just get one before there's a price increase.
