Description / Veniard Golden Pheasant Complete Body Skin

This is the Golden Pheasant Complete Body Skin. An extremely diverse and natural skin of the Golden Pheasant that gives you a variety of feathers from the bird to use for fly tying. Due to this complete skin's versatility, it can pretty much be used for any kind of fly tying!

The complete skin has the head, the body and the tail of the Golden Pheasant. The feathers on the body are mainly used for Salmon flies and the tail and wing feathers can be used for Trout wet flies.

The head area of the Golden Pheasant has the yellow crest feathers that are mainly used for creating tails and toppings. A common fly pattern that contains the crest feathers is the classic Kate McLaren.

The collar has the tippet feathers that are frequently used for Salmon flies, most often for wings, underwings and tails. The Ally's Shrimp fly is one of the most popular flies that use these tippet feathers in their pattern.

The breast and side feathers are vibrant red and are great for larger flies, especially when being used for hackle. The wings of the Golden Pheasant are rarely used but can create fly patterns on Trout flies and on Shrimp flies as well.

Finally, the tail feathers have long fibres and are usually brown with spots of colour. This makes these feathers hugely popular and are commonly used for the bodies on Nymph flies and are also used on Trout flies, steelhead flies and Spey flies too. A common fly for using the tail feathers of the Golden Pheasant is the Saywer's Pheasant Tail Nymph.
