Car mounted rod holders can be attached to vehicles using either magnets or suction. They offer a secure fit and are usually arranged to hold rods securely when travelling short distances along the river bank or waters edge. Using these rod holders has the benefit of being able to leave the rod fully assembled and saves the angler having to put their rod away to travel short distances. Smaller magnetic rod holders are designed to be temporarily attached to the side of the vehicle and hold the anglers rod as they are setting up and getting their gear out of the car. These are especially useful in windy conditions to stop rods being blown over and damaged.
Bank sticks and rod pods are used when fishing with bait from the bank. They allow the angler to add rod rests or alarms to the top and securely hold the rod while they’re waiting for a bite.
