Description / Daiwa 18 Exist LT Reel
The Daiwa 18 Exist LT Reel accumulates 60 years worth of reel innovation from Daiwa. A milestone in reel construction, this reel inhabits a groundbreaking technical construction and a design never been seen before. The 18 Exist is designed for ultimate performance, joy and angling perfection.
The 18 Exist utilises Daiwa’s LT (Light & Tough) concept, ensuring the reel has a light weight that does not come at the sacrifice of strength or durability. The lighter the weight of the reel, the more connected the angler will feel and Daiwa have increased the lightness even further through the MONOCOQUE AIR METAL magnesium body.
The MONOCOQUE body technology enables both compactness and robustness to be achieved. Lean, mean and devoid of un-required bulk. The AIR METAL magnesium body is processed in a special way which allows it to become fully corrosion resistant to increase all round durability and the lifespan of the reel.
With its strength and power, you may think the 18 Exist will produce plenty of noise to back up the work horse design but in fact it is virtually silent, almost whisper silent. Using Tough Digigear technology, this ultra precise machining achieves ideal gear teeth surfaces that significantly reduce gear meshing noise during winding rotation.
The reel also features a collection of other technologies and designs that reduce noise, including a Zaion Air Rotor that reduces inertia for light and smooth winding. The reel also includes the Twist Buster system to reduce line twist and a Cross Wrap Line Lay System that cross wraps the line on the spool avoiding line dig, increases line pick up and further increases casting distance.
The reel is also fitted with an ATD or Automatic Tournament Drag. This implements structural changes that support the spool metal. This additional support reduces spool twist under load, promotes more even pressure on the drag washers and ultimately reduces "pulsing" of the drag when fighting the fish for total smoothness.
