Scandinavian Fly Lines
Scandinavian shooting heads or Scandi for short are the go to all round fly line for Salmon. The short versatile head allows for easy casting and turnover of sink tips. The popular salmon lines are available as full integrated lines or separate heads to be combined with a running line. Integrated allows for simplicity and a separate head allows for a quick change from floating to sinking density.
Skagit Fly Lines
Skagit salmon fly lines are a tool for specific applications. These short aggressive tapers allow you to cast in very tight spots and turnover the heaviest sink-tips. Not a finesse line but you should have one for difficult conditions.
Traditional Spey Line
Although salmon Rio fly lines are dominated by shorter heads such as Scandi or Skagit, traditional Spey lines still have their place in your kit. No need to strip back all that running line will allow for the flies to be held in the water for longer. The more refined tapers on these lines are an advantage in low water condition when sin-tips are not required.
