Purchase went smoothly and reel arrived promptly. Good size, easy to handle. Casts and retrieves smoothly just how you would expect from an ABU reel. Excellent build quality. Very happy with this as my back up reel.

Abu Garcia reels. What can I say. They ooze class when you take them out of the box and they are a dream to fish with. So would this reel be any different. In short....no. The colour is stunning. Build quality is exceptional. Opened up the reel to check everything was OK. A little light on grease in some areas which was easily rectified. Loaded the reel with 15lb line and used in anger last week. Casts beautifully and the power handle is an added bonus. These reels are great over clean ground but you will need the heavier 7000 series reels to fish heavier ground. This is my third 6500 reel over the years. Do not go for cheaper imitations or you will pay not only a cheaper price but end up with an inferior reel which wont last long. Go for the best. That is definitely Abu Garcia.

Where do I start? First impressions off the bat being supplied in a padded box the product was in top shape when delivered and under initial inspection the reel is a well a balanced classic which even today doesn’t look out dated with the timeless styling. Easy to reach controls make this a strong contender for long trips and larger game. Comfortable padded ‘Power handle’ is a great feature which comes as standard with this specific model which is surely a bonus.
The reel doesn’t feel cheap by any means, with only high quality materials which feel solidly secure. Being this is my first Abu multiplier it has turned into a firm favourite of mine and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a robust multiplier to rely on.
