Nice travel rod, well made and great value
Review by JJ
I bought the Shakespeare Agility Exp #5 weight rod so I could walk out to fish some of the more remote loch's in Ross-shire. When it arrived in the post I was immediately pleased with the quality of the carry case and the compact size. Open it up and the rod sections are held in a pockets sewn into the case. The rod itself is a dark grey colour and with a matching grey reel seat. Quality and finish are very good. The build up is easy although the sections do not have alignment markings (honestly not an issue). I mounted a old Shakespeare Graflite reel loaded with a floating WF line that I has in a cupboard. So how does it cast ? The first few casts surprised me in that the rod has a smooth action. I though with 7 sections it might be a bit whippy in the tip. But no it has a smooth mid to fast action in my book. So far I have only used it on a local still water but it behaved nicely and importantly the joints stayed together - this was a fear I had so much so that I had packed some electrical tape just incase. All said and done a nice rod at a great price.

Super rod for the money
Review by Paul
I am off to work in Guernsey in a week's time and needed a travel rod at a budget price. The Shakey EXP had a good review in Trout Fisherman and when I received an e-mail from Angling active saying there was 10% off everything for the weekend I thought I'd order one. I got the 9'6wt. It arrived quickly (ordered Saturday and came Tuesday). was excellently packaged and communications were fantastic throughout the order and delivery process. The rod is light and well finished and I can't wait to get out on the water with it. The blank is nice and slim and the design of the rings/snake guides and the reel seat is good. The threads on the reel seat would benefit from a drop of oil. My only real criticism of Shakespeare on this rod is that being 7 piece - aligment dots on the sections would have been useful. However as usual Shakespeare offer super value for money. All in all I'm very pleased.
