Wood, Cane, Fibreglass then Carbon – Where next?

From the early days of wooden and cane rods – to the current standard of ultra thin Carbon tubes impregnated with resin, rod manufacturing has seen some massive leaps forward.

We are now blessed with unbelievably light, strong and responsive rods that – in most cases, are a pleasure to cast. Rod action and recovery speed can be altered easily by the manufacturer. Chemical company 3M have used nano technology to develop microscopic compound that not only excited the Aerospace industry – their intended market – but also the big name fly rod manufacturers.
